is Minnesota's oldest, richest and deepest underground iron mine. It is a state park in season, we were not there in season so we just looked around. As we drove south toward home we passed through several iron ranges, Mesabi, Vermilion and Cuyuna. Mesabi is an Ojibwa word meaning "giant". The Mesabi Iron Range is a giant area of low rolling hills containing iron ore. It is 110 miles long, one to three miles wide and reaches 500 feet thick. It still produces 75 % of all domestic ore.
