A long time and several children ago our extended family had fondue
for a special dinner. We fretted about the hot oil and making sure the chicken and the beef stayed separate, and got cooked. . .Then we decided it was the fun of dipping food that the children (and we) enjoyed, it wasn't that the meat was extra delicious or anything. So we decided that we would cook the chicken and beef first, then just dip them. Even later, that evolved to chicken nuggets. So, now we cook the chicken nuggets ('cause we can't live on veggies, cheese and bread, well some of us could, but I digress) and serve veggies and bread with a cheese dip. Later, we bring out the chocolate, fruit and cake. When we first knew the cousins were coming one of the things my children asked was, " Can we have fondue?"
