Lock and Dam #1 on the Mississippi River

After lunch we found the lock and dam site(mapquest was less than helpful on this trip). It was a self guided walking tour of the site. There were benches, a water fountain, and restrooms. There were some hands on displays and signs for both adults and children. We wondered if the water we waded in at Lake Itasca this summer had made it this far yet. It takes 90 days for the water to go from Lake Itasca to the Gulf of Mexico.
