Last Day of Camp

On August 3rd I drove up to Camp Cuyuna to pick up Big Brother. I was lamenting that I hadn't seen a loon when we had camped a couple of weeks ago. Big Brother said he'd take me to see one, and he did. We got very close to it in the kayak(which we had to paddle with canoe paddles as the others had been put away for the season). We also went around the beaver dam and saw some petrified wood. It is the long white log near the center of the photo. Petrified wood is a fossil. All of the organic materials have been replaced with minerals which generally takes less than 100 years.
