Mama Hen

This hen was determined to sit on a nest of eggs. She'd sit for four or five days and then something would force or scare her off. So I confined her to this dog kennel complete with food, water, and a straw nest. She had four eggs to sit on. I was expecting them to begin hatching on Saturday night. Imagine my surprise Friday night when this little chick greeted me. Unfortunately, when we arrived home Monday night there was no sign of it. One of the other eggs had hatched, but it was dead. The other two eggs were infertile. Although the outcome was less than desirable, it was still interesting, enjoyable and a learning experience.
