The Brainerd Lakes Area

We had planned to pick Big Brother up from camp for the weekend and spend our time with him visiting the headwaters of the Mississippi River. However, the reports from camp were not good. Remember, we had sent him to camp with a cast on his foot/leg to foster the healing of three of his metatarsals. He had the cast removed while at camp. The orthopedic dr. that he saw said he didn't have any restrictions and that his bones had healed nicely. Well, as it turns out many people who get a cast off of their foot/leg go on to sprain the ankle because when you come out of the cast your ankle is quite weak. Unfortunately, this happened to Big Brother. So, we stopped at the Brainerd Lakes welcome area where Paul Bunyan greeted us, picked Big Brother up at Camp Cayuna, had a picnic lunch in the urgent care center parking lot and then opted to go to a nearby hotel with a pool. The dr. at the urgent care center urged Big Brother to ice, elevate and wear an air cast on his ankle. We watched ALOT of Man Vs. Wild shows and swam in the pool. We got takeout pizza for supper.
