Thawing

When it is this cold outside even the chicken water heater doesn't work. I can still draw water from the outside spigot but, it has a crust of ice on it before I even get to the chicken coop. So I take them warm water so they have a longer chance to drink it before it freezes solid. The bunny gets fresh warm water three times a day and the dogs get water everytime they go outside. I thought the cold might adversly affect the egg production, however they seem to be laying just fine. Unfortunately, many of the eggs crack and freeze(freeze then crack?) before I gather them.

We have a street light near the well house, it comes on at dusk and goes off at dawn. It doesn't work when the temp is below zero, I don't remember that from last winter.
