Chicken Pox Revisited

Fifteen days after Little Brother came down with the CP, the girls broke with CP. I had been checking all the children every day just waiting to see more lesions. According to the timetable the Dr. gave me(14 days), I thought we had made it without any more cases. During the waiting period the girls came to me with every itch or spot or freckle, "Mom, I think I have the chicken pox. " Each time I was able to reassure them that it was just an itch, scratch or freckle. The morning of the 15th day Big Sister says the same thing, I think the same thing while I lift her shirt to check and sure enough she's covered in chicken pox. By that evening Little Sister was covered as well. They had way more spots than Brother. They ran fevers for days and were lethargic and itchy. Calamine lotion applied with an ear tip helped some with the itchiness and was a good distraction. Benadryl helped them stop itching long enough to get to sleep. Three out of the five children had chicken pox, and we are way past the incubation period so I think the other two either had enough immunity or had a light case that I chalked up to diaper rash(Baby) or acne(Big Brother) or they'll get them the next time CP goes through the locker room.
