Union Pacific Railroad's Challenger No. 3985, the world's largest operating steam locomotive was on a five state 1,750 mile tour from Cheyenne, Wyoming to St. Paul, Minnesota to celebrate railroad heritage. It made an overnight stop in a nearby town. It is 122 feet long, weighs more than a million pounds, and can reach a top speed of 70 miles per hour. We heard and saw the steam, and heard its whistle. We saw the engineers onloading water, lots of water. Afterwards we went to a nearby park to release some energy before returning home.
