Happy Reformation Day!

While I am not Lutheran, I am Protestant and today we will be learning about and celebrating Reformation Day.

Corn!

While we were still living in rural southeastern NC my nephew visited, he was delighted to see all the fields of "corn on the cob". It was feed corn but I didn't correct him, what difference does it make to a child? Well, nephew this pic of corn is for you. Your visit to see us in our new home in southwestern MN will come after the corn harvest and I'm sure you will not be impressed with empty fields, even though the dirt is a beautiful, rich, black color. I should still be able to show you a corn pile. . .

Little Sister on the beam

Little Sister is taking gymnastics and enjoying every minute. Her favorite part, handstands. My favorite part, "ta-das". After they do every roll, tumble, or bounce they put their hands up in the air like the olympic gymnasts and say "ta-da".

Big Sister and May

We miss our old stable, the volunteers, the instructor and Bourban and they will always have a special place in our hearts. But, 22 hours is too far to drive for lessons. . . and May, her stablemates and the instructor are becoming fast friends.

Saskatchewan, Canada

Daddy and the Black Lab went hunting for geese and ducks, with some friends, near Moose Jaw. The pics of the waterfowl and the landscape are stunning.

Our first visitors

were Gramma and Grampa! While they were here, we visited the town museum, which is housed in the old railroad depot. We also celebrated birthdays, did lots of painting and electrical work, went out to eat and for ice cream, took pics and got lots of grandparent snuggles. It was a great visit and we look forward to our next one!

Are you ready for some

football? Younger brother decided he wanted to play football this fall. We found him a team, picked up his uniform and reported for practice our first week in our new home. Games are Saturday mornings. He is in green, down in 3-point.

Finally, tablefood.

Baby turned 6 months old at the same time we moved 1/2 way across the country. I know "everyone" says you are supposed to start feeding baby food between 4-6 months old. And that is what I did the first time around. Times two, three, four and five I did what seemed best for the baby and our family. Mommy's milk was working just fine for baby until right around the time for our move, when he started to be very interested in what was going on at mealtime. Now, at mealtime he wants whatever we are having, thankyouverymuch! Sweet corn~yum!
We thought so, too.

Harvesttime

We returned home from a trip to Dairy Queen with Gramma and Grampa and saw lights near our home. Were they working on the train tracks? Did we have visitors? No, it was the farmer combining his soybeans. Great entertainment! It rained the next day, so I'm sure he was glad to get his beans out of the field.

Soybeans

When we bought this farmplace some of the land was leased to a farmer who had it planted in soybeans. In this photo from mid September they are nearly ready for harvest.
