Must rectify that. . .give camera to other photographers and I'll hold the baby!

Flashback

The next couple of posts are old. . .

Christmas Jammies

The girls and I were in the Walmart fabric section one day in November when Little Sister fell in love with some fabric that I did not like at all. She wanted a skirt, I finally convinced her it could be a nightgown. We went to look for a nightgown pattern and I saw this fabric with penguins wearing scarves and hats. We always do new pj's for Christmas, so with my mommy powers of persuasion I convinced Little Sister to switch fabrics!

Baby Nightgowns

When I was pregnant with Baby I couldn't find the nightgowns that I had for my other babies, so I ordered some yellow, blue and green knit and Kwik Sew 3090. The blue gown is rtw. After I made the yellow gowns my sister found the gowns I had used for my other babies in her attic. I love yellow but it does not look good on babies with jaundice, why I didn't remember this when ordering fabric I don't know. I also made two red long sleeve shirts to go under overalls with this pattern.

More Past Sewing

Made these preemie gowns in December 2006. They were cut out by a friend on my sewing list, and sent to another friend on the same list. Never did figure out how to post a picture to my sewing list. . .

The Sewing Mood Strikes

I was in a sewing mood today, finished two shirts I had cut out, and put two rtw t-shirts together to make a nursing shirt. But, that is not what you see here. These projects I finished in January. The baby bunting is Kwik Sew 2640 and was worn once by Baby, home from the hospital. My jacket is Kwik Sew 2792. I added a belly or baby panel and an ear warmer. I wore this jacket once while Baby was still inside. It was not a cold winter here. The jacket I'll wear again, the bunting maybe someone else will wear. . .

Need some honey?

Look what swarmed and landed in our yard! We tried to find a bee keeper to no avail, they left the next morning. The mass of bees was the size and shape of a football.

No trip to the ER for me!

Little Brother had water shoes on. . .

Before the trip to the ER. . .

Big brother enjoyed a paddle in the kayak. Lesson learned: wear shoes in murky water lest you cut your foot on an underwater object.

Nothing's biting!

But, it was a beautiful day for being outside.

Are You My Mother?

Little Sister found an "egg nest". After we took the picture we left it alone, and although we've been looking, we've not seen the mother or even the nest again.

Arbor Seals and Marshmallow Flowers

My kids have all had croupy coughs and in the morning it sounded somewhat like a visit to the aquarium. Daddy said one morning that Big Sister sounded like a Harbor Seal. The next morning Big Sister wondered if she still sounded like an "arbor" seal. They are the ones that live in trees, you know.

Since we've all been staying inside due to the cold and illness, we've been playing some games. We have a deck of cards that came from our state fair. On them they have pictures of things that grow in our state. I was showing Little Sister the card that had a cotton plant on it. I said,"What is this?" Little Sister said,"A marshmallow plant?" I said, "No, try again." She said, "stuffing(meaning fiberfil~what you would stuff a pillow with)." I said, "No. What does mommy say when we are driving in the fall? Look at all the ____." She said, "COTTON!" Hmmm, I think I like marshmallow flower better.

He is Risen!

Christ is Risen indeed! As born-again Christians we celebrate daily that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is alive. But, having grown up in a liturgical tradition I love the remembrance and celebration of Ash Wednesday, Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter. I love Sunrise services and remember fondly going to them in a sheep pasture in hilly Massachusetts with my grandparents. I was looking forward to visiting a friend's church as they were doing a walk thru reenactment of the last days of Christ's life. I was looking forward to having breakfast and service with my church family. I was looking forward to Easter dinner with my inlaws and my sister and her family. But, I stayed home with the sick children. Dear Husband took the two older boys to service with cough drops and tissues in their pockets and strict orders not to cough on anyone! and my inlaws packed up Easter dinner and brought to our home, yum. I can and did and do celebrate that He is alive and He lives in me! Hope you had a blessed Resurrection Day, no matter where or how you spent it!

The Muffin Man

Actually, he's making biscuits to go on top of a pan of chicken and veggies in gravy, we call this favorite Chicken and Biscuits. Big Brother is a good cook and is very helpful in the kitchen. He made dinner last night while I went to the pharmacy to pick up meds. We made it through the winter with nary a cold and now that spring is here 6/7 of us are fighting something!

One Fish, Two Fish. . .

Younger brother was at a Cub Scout Overnighter this weekend. They had some free time, so his den went fishing. He caught this on a rubber worm, Dad estimated it weighed between 7-9 lbs. It was the first fish Dad thought about mounting. . .but she still swims free, we're not telling where though!
